Counterpoint: Prices of some memory chips more than doubled around the Spring Festival, and supply shortages are expected to continue into the second half of 2027.

According to a report by the Korea Herald today, market research firm Counterpoint Research stated at an online seminar that the prices of some memory products increased by more than 100% around the Lunar New Year , and the overall supply shortage will continue until the second half of 2027 .

Counterpoint cited examples such as a 150% price increase for 64GB DDR5 RDIMMs used in servers, a 130% increase for 12GB LPDDR5X in mobile devices, and a staggering 180% increase for 8GB DDR4 SODIMMs; meanwhile, NAND flash memory products also saw price increases of 130-150%.

The agency predicts that memory manufacturers' DRAM capacity will grow by 26% and NAND capacity by 24% this year, but this will not bring about a disruptive change to the fundamental supply shortage, and the supply shortage problem will not be finally resolved until the end of 2027 .
